COURSE
Furkota, Strbske Pleso.
One course, four races in two events across two days.
The course Furkota in Strbske Pleso has been hosting the Slovak GP races since its 55th jubilee in 2010 (prior to 2010 the racers competed on the course Solisko right next to the current course but also in Skalnate Pleso and Hrebienok all located in High Tatras Mountains). Furkota is an ideal race course for giant slalom events.
Furkota had been a winning course and entry point to the world cup races also for the best Slovak alpine skiers Petra Vlhova, Adam Zampa but also Martina Dubovska.
FACTS
-
The GP course Furkota was newly approved by the international skiing federation FIS in Swiss Oberhofen in 2021. The approval is valid until 2031 and FIS giant slalom and slalom races for men and women may be held.
-
"Furkotka", as the locals affectionately call it, was named after neighbouring Furkotska valley and it is the newest course in the ski resort Strbske Pleso.
-
Furkotska valley can be explored not only in winter but also in summer months by hiking trails from Strbske Pleso or by taking the popular chairlift ride to Solisko.
